
Serco’s virtual learning environment Skillspace Learning Platform is a web based product that allows learning content to be delivered to students in an engaging format that can be monitored and reported on by the tutor. Online assessments can be included in a formal portfolio that can contains evidence of access to learning material, results on online test to check understanding and a repository for file storage showing evidence of course work.
Skillspace Learning Platform links with the timetable section in Facility CMIS to provide staff with a means of attaching lesson plans, learning materials and online assessments to events on the timetable. This can improve planning efficiency for staff as well as clarify requirements for students.
Student interaction is stimulated through communication tools which allow them to debate the provided learning either in a moderated or un-moderated format, manage shared projects by signing documents in and out or share understanding through discussion groups.
All access to the areas of the Skillspace Learning Platform can be controlled to a fine degree including detailed reports on student activities within the site.
